It began with a feeling of disconnectedness from heritage, culture, family history, and identity. Which led to research of Sicilian tradition, folklore, rituals, colonialism, art, and religion.
When wearing the garments, we connect with our ancestral heritage by transforming into spiritual beings.
Those without masks have learned to make peace with their distressing environments, accepting their fate, they have passed their masks on.
Hand-sewn garments and handmade masks made of cotton, leather, plastic and nail polish.
I have the power to continue the cycle of generational trauma, or to tend to hundreds of years of open wounds and change the trajectory of my fate and the fate of those who come after me.
